Mum and Dad had a lovely home they had been in for 35 years in the Balgowlah area, but eventually the garden and maintenance of everything became too much. Over a period of two years we had looked into a range of retirement village options that didn¹t work for them for one reason or another, and eventually, they decided to purchase a 2 bed unit at the Stockland Village in Balgowlah. The fact that this was not a retirement village and that they would own their unit in a standard strata arrangement was an important factor for them in making the decision, as well as the access to shops and services, and the amenities of the Village itself, in particular the lovely pool and gardens.
As for all elderly people, this process is daunting and difficult - involving many decisions in the process of transition. However, Mum and Dad's experience of the transition was greatly assisted by the sales agent from Village Property Estate Agents, Brett Jackson, who was with them every step of the way, helping negotiate the purchase, dealing with small and frustrating situations, and always incredibly thoughtful and helpful.
Brett is an excellent communicator with all people, with a good sense of humour and fun. His ability to work with Mum and Dad was invaluable in helping them make their difficult transition smoothly. His assistance actually went way beyond the exchange of contracts, and was invaluable in ensuring Mum and Dad became settled into their new apartment with a minimum of difficulty.
